Illawarra commits to 100 Women in Property program

  • September 08, 2017

Property Council NSW Executive Director Jane Fitzgerald was today in Wollongong to congratulate the Illawarra chapter for its commitment to the 100 Women in Property program to help promote diversity across the industry.

“100 Women in Property is a Property Council initiative that asks members to make a personal commitment to diversity and sponsor talented, up and coming women in our industry,” Ms Fitzgerald said.

“The ‘100 Women’ was a nationwide target but due to its stunning success, nearly 100 women have already been sponsored here in NSW by other Property Council members.

“Cultural change is partly about achieving critical mass and this program creates a talent pipeline right to the top.

“This program is about that as well as how important it is to have sponsors and champions in your career.”

Illawarra Regional Manager of the Property Council, Jancey Malins said diverse businesses are successful businesses.

“Local firm MMJ Real Estate were quick to sign up to the program and understand that diverse businesses are where the best people want to work,” Ms Malins said.

Program participant Tracy Preston, Manager, Commercial Management Division said she was really excited to be part of the program.

“I applaud the Property Council and my sponsor MMJ Real Estate for investing in me and promoting a diverse property industry,” Ms Preston said.

Sponsors in the 100 Women in Property program are asked to personally advocate for and promote the career of the sponsored woman, help build their network and plan their development, including nominating for a Property Council committee.

Sponsored participants from NSW cover a range of fields within the property industry and include audit directors, lawyers, client managers, marketing personnel, engineers, project managers and managers.  Read their stories here:  http://bit.ly/1ZVZ1Ou
