An elevated rail line between Caulfield and Dandenong could become part of the Andrews Government’s upgrade of the Cranbourne-Pakenham Railway corridor.
The plan for the sky rail was submitted in the designs presented by an interested bidder in the tendering process for the works, which will include the removal of nine level crossings.
The Government has stated that no final decisions has been taken on the rail corridor, while the Opposition has warned of noise pollution, divided neighbourhoods, and the absence of an electoral mandate.
According to the Level Crossing Authority, an extensive community consultation on the proposed concept will commence once the preferred bidder is confirmed this year.
