Home Property Australia Connectivity Key to Successful Infill

Connectivity Key to Successful Infill

  • September 15, 2017

As the WA State Election nears, the Property Council of Australia is calling for infrastructure projects that will improve transport connections and promote infill development within Perth’s middle-ring suburbs.

“Perth’s inner suburbs are in desperate need of transformation as more West Australians look to buy a new home close to amenity, family and easy access to public transport,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.

“The success of urban infill in these inner-city locations will depend on the WA Government’s ability to provide frequent and reliable public transport options,” he added.

“Suburbs within the middle-ring are failing to meet the demand for homes in the area, while public transport options are lacking.

“The middle-ring is currently in a stalemate situation – without Government intervention to improve transport options – communities are left waiting for development to happen.

“The tate Government needs to incentivize infill development by aligning new transport networks with to support people to live in more central locations that offer both employment and an inner city lifestyle.

“Apartments living has become an accepted way of life for West Australians who are wanting trade living space for a place where they don’t need a car to get around. However, the current public transport system has provided insufficient services, causing people to resort to driving to and from the CBD. This influx has increased travel times and congestion which hurts the economy,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.

“It’s time WA aligned with the other states to bring about much needed public transport so West Australians have a better options for where they want to live and work,” Mr Iacomella said.
