South Australia’s future education infrastructure requirements are pressing.
According to the 20-Year State Infrastructure Strategy Snapshot, the number of school-aged children will increase by over 18,000 over the next 20 years. The high-growth population scenario of the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan suggests an additional 670,000 people within 30 years.
With the Malinauskas Government’s desire to increase the economic complexity of our economy, the quality and volume of educational facilities needed to nurture current and future South Aussie minds will play a key role in lifting the State’s contribution to the nation’s growth.
Aside from school building, the State is also pursuing universal preschool for 3-year-olds, leaning into the university merger and funding the delivery of technical colleges. However, with growth, change and opportunity comes great challenges and this event is a chance for members to come together as an industry dive into the subject. Questions such as do we have the skills base, optimised procurement, contracting and delivery models to cater for this level of change? What do we as an industry need to do better and more productively, and how can we partner with Government more efficiently to leave a legacy for the future?
