Queensland Retirement Living Forum

18 February 2025 @ 08:30 - 14:30 AEST

$307.00
Queensland’s ageing population continues at pace. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistic, the proportion of Queenslanders aged 65 years and over will increase from 17% in 2022 to between 25% and 27% by 2071.

Here in South East Queensland, the SEQ regional plan predicts that by 2046 almost 20% of people in the South East will be aged 65 or over – that is 1.2 million people – about half the current population of Brisbane.

This means we are going to need a lot more senior living facilities, but what are the barriers to building them and ensure our retirees have access to affordable and age-friendly housing that caters for their needs?

Come and hear from leaders across the industry share their views on emerging trends, along with their thoughts on the opportunities and challenges ahead for the sector.

This half day forum will include a packed program of industry experts and informative panels, including:

Session 1: Opening Address

Session 2: Building retirement villages on community and sporting land

How underutilised land can be accessed to assist with the delivery of more retirement living for our ageing Australians.

Session 3: Legislation On the couch

An open panel discussion from industry representatives about impending regulations and updates in this asset type that will affect you.

Session 4: The power of positive press.

The retirement living sector is full of positive stories. From its thriving communities to the comradery and mateship that lives within our villages, the sector is bursting with enough good news stories to fill a library.
But as with every sector, there are a small number of negative stories, which have impacted both the industry and residents alike. This session will discuss how we as a sector respond to these negative headlines and work with residents to ensure the positive stories are told and celebrated.

Session 5: Award Presentation

Be on hand as we recognise the sector’s outstanding achievers by announcing the 2024 State Award Winners for the QLD Village Manager of the Year and the QLD Salesperson of the Year.
