Mental Health Awareness Part 1
Mental Health represents one of the greatest challenges to our society today. With an estimated 450 million people worldwide suffering from a Mental Health issue, and statistics indicating 1 in 5 Australians will be diagnosed with a Mental Illness at some stage in their life.
Developed as a two part course in conjunction with Learning Curve (UK) and Jonathan Lincolne (Clinical Psychologist).
Part 1 is approx 45 minutes in duration and covers topics such as the key components of Mental Wellbeing, Stress, Depression and Anxiety. Considered essential training for all employees in the modern workplace this course educates you on identifying symptoms, the triggers and how to best direct people to qualified support networks.
Part 2 covers Self Harm and Suicide, Eating Disorders, Mental Wellbeing and Building Resilience.

- Mental Health explained
- The stigma of Mental Health
- Stress – causes and effects on the body, ways to cope
- Support for people experiencing Stress
- Anxiety – causes and ways to manage
- Common Anxiety disorders
- Depression – causes and how it affects individuals
- Diagnosing Depression and seeking help.
Objectives: upon completion of this course, participants will learn:
- The key components of Mental Wellbeing
- Causes and effects of Stress
- Ways to cope with Stress and how to offer support to others
- How to recognise Anxiety and Panic Attacks
- How to recognise other common anxiety disorders
- Ways to manage Anxiety
- How to recognise the warning signs of Depression and how to guide people to support.
Designed for:
- This awareness course is designed to provide employees and employers with a well rounded knowledge of mental illness. It is intended to be used as a general awareness and refresher course to encourage awareness of mental health issues and how best to respond in guiding people to professional support.
Outcomes:
- On successful completion of this course employees will have the necessary information to be able to provide basic first aid response to accidents and medical emergencies.
