Low and mid-rise housing reforms, a new Transport Orientated Development SEPP and incentive floor space for the provision of affordable housing are just a few of the changes our planning system has seen over the past year to promote additional housing supply.
Today’s Western Sydney Planning Breakfast discussed the wave of reform – and what’s to come. It also canvassed the limitations of zoning as a tool for unlocking housing supply. Project feasibility in an environment of escalating costs is a key challenge in the delivery of new housing, along with a need to ensure sites are connected to roads and utilities infrastructure.
It was a pleasure to hear from our keynotes Murray Donaldson and Schandel Fortu, along with the our super-panel conversation featuring Jen Concato, Chris Ferreira and Brendan O’Brien.
