It was a pleasure to host NSW Premier Chris Minns at today’s State of the State lunch held at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney.
Premier Minns address clearly demonstrated his Government’s commitment to addressing the housing supply and affordability crisis and reaching our 75,000+ share of the new homes needed each year under the National Housing Accord.
He shared that he is “unambiguously supportive of urban density” and is committed to changing the negative rhetoric around development and the demonisation of the sector.
He instead supports density done well through innovative and responsible development that delivers beautiful buildings that make a positive contribution to our modern city.
He was then joined by Sky News’ AM Agenda host Laura Jayes for a wide-ranging fireside chat which covered a great deal of ground.
We heard about the Premier’s intention to rebalance Sydney’s growth to promote more infill development close to jobs and transport; discussed CBD activation and whether the NSW public service will return full-time to the office; and recapped recent investments in planning and infrastructure announced as part of last week’s Budget.
Huge thanks to our co-sponsors Stockland and KONE for making this event possible, and to the Premier and Laura Jayes for their time and for such a great discussion.
