We were joined by two incredible women who shared a little of their personal journeys as part of the 4.4m Australians who live with a disability.
ABC’s disability affairs reporter Nas Campanella shared her journey from losing her sight at six months old, to becoming one of Australia’s most well-known reporters who has paved the way for other vision impaired newsreaders to succeed in journalism.
Liesl Tesch AMÂ MP, NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Disability Inclusion then shared her story of becoming a paraplegic at 19, to then becoming a champion Paralympian to going on to becoming a member of Parliament, driving legislative reforms to ensure inclusion is at the heart of everything the new Minns government does.
Nas and Liesl were later joined for an inspiring panel discussion by Aaron Sinclair of Woolworths Group, Kate Hogan Gillies from Woods Bagot and moderator Ellie Laing-Southwood from the Property Council of Australia for a thought-provoking conversation about how asking questions of the people with lived experience of disability can help shape inclusive designs that support ALL members of our community.
Thank you to our event sponsor nbn® Australia as well as our fabulous speakers and panelists for such a wonderful event.
