WATER SUPPLY SERVICES LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL 2014

  • September 05, 2017

The Property Council has lodged a submission on the Water Supply Services Legislation Amendment Bill 2014 with the State Development, Infrastructure and Industry Parliamentary Committee.

Primarily addressed in the submission is the need for an extension of the Department of Energy and Water Supply’s regulatory powers to enforce immediate compliance with the Bill by distributor-retailers. The submission also recommends the addition of strict penalty unit fines for non-compliance during the early stages of the transition to the distributor-retail model on July 1.

Other key points raised for the Committee’s consideration include:

  • Current Government reviews that will impact the Bill, such as the review of the infrastructure charges framework.
  • The importance of consultation by water distributor-retailer’s in relation to their netserv plans.
  • The need to ensure distributor-retailers are held accountable for the information included in their services advice notices.

The submission can be found at the PDF link below.
