Property Council of Australia’s submission to the Council Boundary Review in NSW. It is proposed that the number of regional councils will be reduced from 109 to 87 and the number of councils in Greater Sydney will be reduced from 43 to 25.
The submission outlines the following:
- The advantages of amalgamation including financial advantages and the capacity to provide services and facilities
- The ability of new boundaries to remove inefficiencies in strategic planning and infrastructure delivery
- The opportunity to undertake meaningful cultural change and the use of incentives to improve council leadership, such as pay rises, promotions, appraisals and professional development
- Consistency in whether or not to divide areas into wards.
