POSITIVE PLANNING CONCEPTS REQUIRE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

  • September 07, 2017

The Property Council has provided a submission to the Deputy Premier on the Draft Planning and Development Bill 2014.

The Property Council has been an ongoing participant in the development of this Bill through stakeholder working groups, presentations to our committees by the Department of State Development Infrastructure and Planning and one-on-one meetings with the Department.

We have also met with the Department since the release of the Draft Bill to discuss key issues in person.

Overall the amendments provide for more logical, streamlined legislation and contain a number of positive changes for industry.

However, some new initiatives will require further refinement to ensure they operate as intended. These include:

  • Exemption certificates
  • Third party assessment
  • Changes other than for a minor change, and
  • Inconsistent conditions.

Unfortunately, without access to the regulations or DA rules, the Property Council has been unable to provide a full commentary on the impact of the legislation. We will be closely involved with the development of these elements over the coming weeks.

The submission can be found at the PDF link above.
