LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT REVIEW DIRECTIONS PAPER

The Property Council lodged a submission to the review of the Local Government Act 1989.

Our biggest concern relating to the reform directions focuses on the proposal regarding council franchise, which could remove the right of property owners to vote in council elections.

This proposal would remove the right of landlords to have a say in how their local communities are run and developed.

In the submission, the Property Council urges the State Government to ensure that property owner voting rights are retained.
