The Property Council has supported the State Government’s focus on the arts sector, business and community in a submission on the Draft Cultural Precinct Master Plan (the Master Plan).
The Master Plan will guide future development and investment in the Cultural Precinct over the next 20 years.
The Property Council recognises the economic and social benefits that will be delivered by transforming Brisbane’s cultural precinct. This includes the downstream benefits of construction and development as well as increased tourism and greater commercial offerings.
Specifically the submission supports the themes and strategies outlined in the Master Plan that are aiming to:
-
Increase cultural tourism through new and innovative indoor and outdoor performance spaces.
-
Improve connectivity between the precinct, CBD and Southbank, including the Queen’s Wharf precinct and West End urban renewal.
-
Activate the precinct through additional residential, office, hotel and retail offerings.
-
Grow Brisbane’s cultural and innovation hubs, including the new Sciencentre and revamped education and enterprise assets.
-
Create a lively day and night economy in the surrounding precincts.
