Sunshine Coast 2019 Market Outlook

The Property Council’s 2019 Sunshine Coast event series kicked off on Thursday 7 March, with the local industry converging on the Lakehouse at Mountain Creek for expert analysis on the year ahead for the city’s various property sectors.

Mark Wallace, Regional Technical Director - Economics at RPS, delivered an in-depth analysis of the factors influencing residential markets, across Australia and on the Sunshine Coast. While national economic uncertainty and a tightening of debt finance availability has been a focus of media attention, Mark believes that local momentum will be maintained in 2019.

Brendan Robins, Director – CBRE, provided insights on the non-residential markets, outlining the major developments that have impacted the local market, and what is expected to occur over the next twelve months. While Brendan predicts a tight period for retail and commercial sectors, industrial has become a shining light on the Sunshine Coast with strong demand experienced.

Following the presentations, Hannah Madill - Development Manager with Stockland’s Aura project joined Brendan and Mark on stage for a panel discussion moderated by Brad Williams, General Manager - Sunshine Coast with RPS.

Brad has been appointed as Chair of the Property Council’s Sunshine Coast committee for the 2019-2020 committee term.

All panellists agreed that the fundamentals of the local market were strong, and that a greater diversification of the local economy has contributed to less volatility.

The Property Council would like to thank Mark, Brendan, Hannah and Brad for their sharing their insights with members and guests.
