Nick Johnston appointed Victorian Deputy Executive Director
The Property Council of Australia has appointed Nick Johnston as the Deputy Executive Director of its Victorian Division, working in partnership with Victorian Executive Director Danni Hunter.
Mr Johnston enjoyed a 20-year career as a journalist with some of Australia's leading media organisations including The Age, the ABC and Nine where he covered federal, state and local politics. Over the past decade he has held a number of senior corporate affairs and communications roles and was the inaugural General Manager Communications and Corporate Affairs for the AFL's 18th club, the Greater Western Sydney Giants, between 2011 and 2015.
Since 2017 he has worked for entrepreneur Larry Kestelman as General Manager Media and Communications for the National Basketball League where he has played a key role in Australia's fastest growing sporting league and worked closely with the LK Group on a number projects including the $700 million Capitol Grand development and the NBL's expansion into Tasmania.
Victorian Executive Director Danni Hunter said: "We are delighted to welcome Nick to the Property Council. With his vast skills and experience we believe he can make a significant contribution during what is a very important time for the property sector as we've seen with
the recent announcements in the Victorian State Budget."
Mr Johnston said, "I'm excited about the opportunity to join the Property Council of Australia and the team in the Victorian Division and to represent Australia's biggest industry. I am extremely passionate about Victoria and the property industry has never been more important to our economy. It will play a critical role in the post COVID recovery to generate jobs and investment that will benefit Victoria and Australia."
Mr Johnston will commence as Victorian Deputy Executive Director at the Property Council
of Australia on Monday 7 June 2021.
