PROPERTY COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA WELCOMES FOCUS ON PRODUCTIVITY
The Property Council of Australia today welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement that it will task the Productivity Commission with its second review of the country’s productivity.
Chief Executive of the Property Council of Australia Ken Morrison said the announcement could not come at a more important time.
“The economy shows every sign of sling-shotting out of the worst of the pandemic, but at the end of the day it will be our productivity performance which shape the living standards of Australians in the future,” Mr Morrison said.
“In simple terms, productivity underpins future prosperity and government actions have a huge role to play.
“We welcome the Treasurer’s decision to commission the Productivity Commission to create a productivity blueprint for the nation.
“In its seminal 2017 ‘Shifting the Dial’ report, the Commission rightly made the case that productive cities were fundamental to the economy and represented one of the five most important reform opportunities.
“The Property Council of Australia strongly supports the government’s move, and looks forward to contributing to the inquiry,” he said.
