The serious side...
TOD proves popular with young people in propertyI
April saw the
largest ever gathering of FUTURE DIRECTIONS: young people in
property to watch industry heavy weights discuss the innovatory TOD
– Transit Orientated Developments. Over 230 young property professionals (and a
few slightly more senior professionals) turned out to hear TOD experts Jeff Humpreys (Humphreys Reynold Perkins),
Matthew Miller (FKP Limited) and Malcolm Snow (South Bank
Corporation) discuss what TOD is and how transit oriented
developments are becoming a more frequent form of
development for the Nation's fastest growing region.

Green Star Office
Buildings - The way of the future?
September
saw 150 young people in property gather to listen to Angus Harvey
Ross (Corporate Property) and Andrew Borger (Leighton Properties)
talk about increasingly popular environmentally friendly green star
office buildings. From a property developer’s perspective, Andrew
Borger spoke about the 400 George Street development which he hopes
will score a 5, or higher, on the green star ratings tool
measurement. From a tenant’s point of view, Angus Harvey Ross
explained the attributes tenants are looking for in an
environmentally friendly building, in particular, the specific
design initiatives employed by the developer.

IPSWICH: TWO
HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE
On Thursday
26th October, 120 young property professionals gathered to
hear what Cr. Paul Pisasale, Mayor of Ipswich, had to say
about his “land of opportunity”.
When the Mayor first began his term in Ipswich, the city had
one of the highest crime rates in Australia as well as one
of the highest unemployment rates. Both have since
diminished and the Mayor boasts that the city is currently
the 4th largest in Queensland and is soon to become the 2nd.The “free trade agreement” Pisasale and Lord Mayor Campbell
Newman signed with Ipswich was noted by Pisasale as being
one of the contributing factors in the change of fortune in Ipswich.

AAMI Stradbroke
Race Day
Over
100 frocked and suited up racegoers braved the rare inclement
weather conditions and headed out to the Property
Council/Consolidated Properties Marquee at Eagle Farm race course on
Saturday 10th June for the AAMI Stradbroke. From 12 noon ‘til the
last, guests were treated to a sumptuous seafood buffet including
prawns, Moreton Bay bugs, fresh oysters and smoked salmon – supplied
by Gambaro’s and sipped on Rosemount wines as the horses charged by
the marquee. The reason we all turned out, was for the AAMI
Stradbroke, which was won by the locally owned and trained three
year old filly La Montagna.
