The
3rd Annual FUTURE DIRECTIONS Lawn Bowls Tournament held in
August was a real highlight of the year with over 160 people in
attendance. With 28 teams competing and a band of loyal supporters
barracking from the sideline, the competition was hot, sometimes
woeful, but most importantly a whole lot of fun! One of the two
teams from FKP, spearheaded by the FUTURE DIRECTIONS Committee’s own
Jason Dukes, took out the third annual event and will forever be
recognised with their name engraved on the perpetual cup! The night
ended with a fantastic BBQ dinner and a few quiet ales with some
continuing to the wee hours of the morning.

In
the midst of the Spring racing carnival, FUTURE DIRECTIONS played
special host to the first ever Queensland Property Council of
Australia Race Day. Doomben racetrack will never be the same again
following Brisbane’s leading young people in property hitting the
track on Saturday 22nd October. The FUTURE DIRECTIONS private
marquee provided an elegant and comfortable setting trackside where
over 100 enjoyed fine food and bubbly, quality racing and most
importantly our very own ‘Fashion’s on the Field’ competition. The
event was a huge success and sure to be included in the 2006 FUTURE
DIRECTIONS event calendar!

2006: Opportunity knocks for industry to work with Government
Queensland is booming and the education sector along with it.
Our guest speaker for the very first 2006 FUTURE DIRECTIONS: young
people in property event is Queensland's Education Minister the
Honourable Rod Welford. Overseeing a $5 billion annual
budget, this former Attorney-General and Minister for the
Environment, will tell guests of a bold and increasingly profitable
new future post-SEQ Regional Plan. He'll outline opportunities
for the industry to get involved in integrating private and public
facilities. Avoid over-regulation and dictation by Government?
