Sustainability,
Design and Sentencing - Brisbane Supreme and District Courts
The first
FUTURE DIRECTIONS: young people in property event for 2008
attracted over 180 young property professionals last
Thursday evening, at the Rugby Club Downtown.
Dr John Hockings, Design Director for Architectus, delivered
a detailed presentation about Architectus' vision for the
new Supreme and District Courts Complex - to be built in a
very non-traditional sense.
Architectus' vision is to create a court house which does
not enclose its occupants, but lets the outside environment
penetrate the court rooms through a sophisticated external
wall system of glass and operable sun shading. The building
complex will also be open to the public with expansive parks
and landscapes which will complete the George Street
Government row.
The Future Directions Committee would like to thank John,
for presenting his dream to transform what has been a
derelict triangular lot for the past few decades, into a
sustainable judicial hub for Brisbane.
Congratulations to Jeremy Tasker from Bovis Lend Lease,
winner of a bottle of Nicholas Feuillatte French Champagne.
The committee looks forward to seeing all young property
members at our next networking event on the 10th April.

The Property Council of Australia thanks Consolidated
Properties for its sponsorship of the Future Directions
event series.
