FUTURE DIRECTIONS: young people in property

OCTOBER  EVENT...

IPSWICH: LAND OF OPPORTUNITY

Last Thursday 26th October, 120 young property professionals gathered to hear what Cr. Paul Pisasale, Mayor of Ipswich, had to say about his “land of opportunity”.

When the Mayor first began his term in Ipswich, the city had one of the highest crime rates in Australia as well as one of the highest unemployment rates. Both have since diminished and the Mayor boasts that the city is currently the 4th largest in Queensland and is soon to become the 2nd.

The “free trade agreement” Pisasale and Lord Mayor Campbell Newman signed with Ipswich was noted by Pisasale as being one of the contributing factors in the change of fortune in Ipswich. This “breaking down of the picket fence” changed the way a lot of people saw the city of Ipswich and as such, the city now has a thriving working class and professional population.

Cr. Pisasale made it clear that he has strategies in place to protect industry’s that put their money and resources into Ipswich. He expressed his liking for the development industry and said that the most important thing, for developers, is that there is infrastructure for them to build upon.

The Property Council of Australia, Queensland Division, would like to thank Martin Spinks and Consolidated Properties for their sponsorship of the 2006 FUTURE DIRECTIONS: young people in property brand and Metroplex Management for their assistance in the delivery of this particular event.
