ROLLER COASTER RIDE - the year
that has been and what lies ahead

Property professionals heard that the property fundamentals
for the South East remain strong, but global uncertainty and
the credit crunch is starting to take its toll.
The Downtown Rugby Club played host to the annual Future
Directions end of financial review dubbed "Roller Coaster
Ride - The year that has been and what lies ahead".
FD's Chair Luke Fraser moderated the event which saw an
expert panel of Chris McCluskey (Brookfield Multiplex
Developments), Peter Hyland (Urbis) and Robert Bitomsky (ABN
AMRO Morgan) present and debate what lies ahead.
Chris likened the last twelve months more to a ghost train,
than a roller coaster, but reiterated developers are by no
means packing up their bags yet.
Peter's in depth knowledge of the economy again highlighted
that the QLD commercial and residential markets still
remained undersupplied on the back of record growth in
resources, infrastructure and population.
Robert remained positive about the future of LPT's, but
reconfirmed concerns over the unavailability of credit and
softening yields.
The FD's committee remains concerned about the influence of
global markets on the Australian economy, but is firmly of
the belief that the fundamentals within the Australian and
especially QLD property markets are still strong.
