FUTURE DIRECTIONS: young people in property

"Today's Future Directions = tomorrow's Managing Directors"

The official e-newsletter of QUEENSLAND FUTURE DIRECTIONS

2006: The year that’s been….
Starting on a sad note, the committee thanked long standing Chair Person Jennifer Robertson for her many hard years of service and welcomed Ian Devereux as the new Committee Chair Person.

With capacity crowds at most of the six events to date, certainly the standout events have been the Property Council Race Day, TOD and of course the now famous Future Direction’s lawn bowls afternoon.

In April, over 200 young professionals packed the rugby club to watch industry heavy weights discuss the innovatory TOD – Transit Orientated Developments. Strong crowds also gathered in June to learn as much as they could about Australia Trade Coast and the future development opportunities in this expanding industrial region.

The 10th of June played host to the second annual Property Council's Race Day at Eagle Farm. The champagne was flowing and backed by a strong demand for Heineken beer the bookie made a killing on the day! However a tremendous time was had by all and next years race day is looking like being even bigger and better. Fashions on the field had some fresh new faces this year and the winners certainly walked away very happy!

As always the Future Directions Committee has delivered pertinent topical evenings and the “State of Play – Sector Report Card” in July was no different. The market status of commercial and residential markets was debated and everyone walked away knowing the South East Queensland (SEQ) market is a strong as ever.

Second to no other young professionals event in SEQ, the Future Directions Lawn Bowls day again highlighted that we should all stick to our day jobs. Having said this, the winning team RCP blitzed the field and went on to take the coveted FD Lawn Bowls trophy for 2006. This event only gets stronger every year, so be sure not to miss your opportunity next year!

Green Star office buildings are set to revolutionise the Brisbane office market and once again Future Directions delivered the industry leaders to debate the topic in mid September.

Looking forward there are only two more events that will fast being selling out, so be sure not to miss your place at these excellent marketing opportunities.

A warm thank you is given to all of the Future Directions event attendees, our Corporate sponsor Consolidated Properties and all other contributing sponsors. A very special thank you is also reserved for the continued support of Keryn Osgerby and Jarna King from the Property Council of Australia who continue to help make these events the success that they are.
