Agents, lawyers
and rats...
On Thursday 15
May, the who's who of property gathered at the Uni Pub to
witness an epic debate between lawyers and agents: "Agents or
Lawyers - Who are the Real Dirty Rotten Rats?" Punters from both
camps were happy to mingle with those from the opposing camp
over pre-match drinks, however once the speakers commenced, the
battle lines were decisively drawn.
The agents were represented by Jim Shonk of Colliers
International and Mark Larmer of Independent Property Group. The
lawyers’ case was argued by Susan Proctor of Bradley Allen
Lawyers and Steven Gavagna of Goodman Law. There was heckling
(mostly from the speakers), risqué jokes and even some stinky
cheese (albeit carefully glad wrapped - Mark's family, of whom
he spoke so fondly, taught him well). Thankfully, the PCA had
engaged an independent referee (Ross Solly) to adjudicate
proceedings and retain some semblance of control.
Due to the most vocal crowd support, the agents were judged
triumphant on the night and the lawyers walked away with the
dubious title of being the real dirty rotten rats.
A big thank you to the night's sponsors, Cite-Zenith and
HBO+EMTB, and to all who attended.
