WHY A LEADERSHIP COURSE SPECIFICALLY FOR WOMEN?

Property needs more women in leadership roles. This bespoke workshop helps property companies maximize their competitive advantage through developing the role women play in business excellence and productivity, adding to their business effectiveness and leadership potential.

The workshop develops your talent pool of women leaders, ensuring your company is equipped for gender equality; adding economic benefit to your organisation. The course also provides an excellent forum for developing business relationships with peers and establishing a network of advantageous contacts.

International research shows top companies employing senior women achieve and maintain competitive advantage ahead of those who don’t. A variety of elements can get in the way of women finding their place in business including structural obstacles, lifestyle issues, and embedded institutional and individual mindsets.

This workshop assists women in property develop their individual leadership communication, improving their leadership potential so they can step up to take on roles that will progress their business. Delivered since 2012, its success comes from the bespoke nature of the program; sculpted to address the specific needs of individuals in each group of attendees. The result provides best outcomes both personally and within the business. 

THE WORKSHOP

Over one full day and one half day, participants gain insights into their own leadership style and behaviours. Within a select group of peers, they learn constructive approaches to professional interaction, including handling the conflicts that come with a leadership post. Practical topics include:

- Discovering and shaping personal leadership style

- Developing an action plan to achieve individual professional goals

- Presenting confidently as well as competently

- Managing difficult conversations and dealing with difficult people

- Improving others’ perception of your leadership competence

- Individual and group coaching to develop leadership reputation

Individual and group instruction demonstrates the impact of different behavioural styles in leading others. Participants build confidence in leadership within their organisational role.

CAROLYN WATTS

Carolyn Watts has a wealth of experience working with leaders in the Australian property sector. A former broadcaster with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Carolyn is the first Australian woman awarded the Benton Fellowship for Broadcast Journalists at the University of Chicago. She is a founding member of The Property Council’s Women in Property Taskforce, former CEO of Outward Bound Australia, and founder of The Coaching Connection and All About People®. An executive coach for almost two decades, Carolyn has studied coaching psychology, narrative coaching, and professional communication. She is a member of the University of Sydney’s Coaching and Mentoring Association, the International Coaching Federation, AICD, AIM and PRIA.


Cancellation policy

All cancellations must be requested in writing however no refunds will be given to cancellations made less than five (5) business days prior to the event as catering arrangements have already been confirmed. We are happy to accept a replacement at no additional cost.

Terms and conditions

Registrations are for individual delegates only and cannot be split or shared between multiple people. Payment is required prior to the event. The Property Council of Australia reserves the right to alter speaker/s or program of events or cancel the event in its entirety. The Property Council of Australia reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove from the premises any person who it considers (in their sole and absolute discretion) is causing annoyance. Your registration is accepted on the basis of these conditions. The collection of individual registration details is primarily so that we can register you and your colleagues for the event. The information will be stored in the Property Council’s database and may be used for future marketing of Property Council events and may also be provided to the event sponsors. If you do not wish your details to be made available to external parties, we ask that you notify us by a written request to the Property Council Database Manager. Property Council often undertakes or facilitates photography and/or video at our events and conferences. These images and footage may be used in future promotions that include but are not limited to website, direct mail, marketing collateral, email, sales documents and other uses by Property Council of Australia. Should a registered participant seek to be excluded from such future uses of images, you must register your request with a Property Council staff member on the day of the designated event. No further correspondence or permissions will alternatively be sought.
